Jasmine Yuzu 21 is a reformulated release of a best-selling fragrance from 2014. Once upon a time JasYu was a pretty, airy, billowy, Doris Day-girly sort of floral, however this 2021 version is … dare I say it? A masculine floral.
The scent story is a landscape painting of the intense Summer rainstorms that drench the whole land at sunset in the tropics. It begins with the punchy aroma that comes from the very first heavy drops of rain falling onto the parched earth. Fragrant vapour rises up from the ground, in a solid, earthy petrichor base created from a 20+ year old vintage Mitti attar. Traditionally made attars such as this are made by distilling featured materials in Mysore sandalwood (in this case Mitti, which is sun-baked earth sods). Our petrichor accord also includes a premium, (best-I’ve-ever-smelled) batch of Ruh Khus which is an otto, or steam-distilled vetiver roots. Our vintage Mitti attar and Ruh Khus comes from Sundari Aromata in India.
Drenching the topsoil, cleansing and refreshing the wild grasses and dusty foliage, the warm smell of three varieties of jasmine flowers begins to rise in the oppressively humid atmosphere. Jasmine grandiflorum, jasmine sambac and jasmine auriculatum open their petals to sing. Ylang ylang blossoms too, drift down in the deluge, in perfect harmony with the soft, sweet chorus of lily and jasmine.
Bringing great relief, the temperature begins to cool now, and the deliciousness of sparkling fresh yuzu emerges to blend with the magnificent garland of jasmine flowers, a bouquet of lingering joy that gently whispers long into the night.
